Mantis deposition

Overall presentation

Mantis Deposition Limited is a SME based in Thame, UK, which develops and manufactures vacuum deposition equipment for thin film and surface science applications. Products include a wide range of PVD instrumentation as well as a range of standard and bespoke UHV deposition systems. Mantis customers include university research groups, government research organisations and commercial enterprises. Founded in 2003, the company has grown rapidly over the last few years and now numbers more than 40 people, many of whom are trained to PhD level. Because our customers are primarily R&D focused Mantis is actively engaged in research both through large scale multi-partner consortia and smaller collaborative projects.

• Development of a conformal molybdenum coating process on textured glass substrates

• Development of a nanoparticle based nano-texturisation process for depositing 100-300nm molybdenum structures on conformal molybdenum layers

Further information

Mantis has been developing PVD coating instrumentation and technologies including the Nanogen Nanoparticle source for more than 10 years. The company has been active in a number of European funded projects related to photovoltaics, fuel cells and catalysis including the Solamon project where the capability of the standard Nanogen technology was extended to producing nanoparticles greater than 50nm in diameter.
